One of HIRED’s unique strengths is its
ability to bring employers and workers together. With a variety
of partners, HIRED develops and operates special training
programs for industry-specific careers in manufacturing, hospitality
and customer service. To learn more about these opportunities,

M-Powered Metalforming Manufacturing
Training Program, offered through a partnership with
Hennepin Technical College, prepares program participants
for entry-level jobs in a wide range of manufacturing firms.
The program – developed with a grant from the National
Association of Manufacturers – grew out of a need for
skilled workers in several Twin Cities-based manufacturing
plants. The 96-hour training program focuses on classroom
training that meets National Institute for Metalworking Skills
credential requirements. The course covers basic skills employers
require such as shop math, blueprint reading, precision measurement,
shop safety, quality, in section, machine operation and computer
skills.
M-Powered Plastics Manufacturing Training
Program, also offered through a partnership with
Hennepin Technical College, prepares participants for careers
that use injection molded plastics technology. The 130-hour
course is modeled after the highly-successful M-Powered metalforming
training program. Students graduate from the program with
a certificate of completion from Hennepin Technical College,
giving them the skills and training necessary for a career
in injection molding.
Customer Service Training Program,
offered through a partnership with a number of local employers,
prepares HIRED clients for entry-level positions as office
professionals or customer service representatives. The 8-week
training course trains job seekers for a number of careers,
including: bank tellers, bill and account collectors, dispatchers,
receptionists, shipping and receiving clerks, and cashiers.
The training course, which is held at HIRED’s Griggs-Midway
location, has several components, among them classroom training,
experiential learning and job shadow opportunities.
