Whether developing the basic skills that will help land that first job, or thinking through the first step of building a career, today’s youth often need the counseling and support HIRED can provide.
HIRED’s youth program offices are located in schools and community centers throughout the metro area. By working closely with schools and social service agencies, HIRED helps youth manage the full range of activities and support they need to complete their high school education, obtain a GED, and develop the work habits and job search skills necessary to find and hold a job.
HIRED offers a wide range of workshops and training programs designed specifically for youth. Workshop availability and schedules vary by program and location, but typically include:
- Job search skills workshops address the skills necessary to secure a job in today’s economy. Topics include resume development, completing applications, professional job search correspondence, interviewing and Internet job search.
- Career workshops help participants learn about specific jobs and industries, such as healthcare, food service and office careers.
- Special topics workshops cover issues that are often of interest to young people, such as leadership development, parenting, budgeting and planning for life after high school.
- Short-term training programs are also offered to prepare young workers for entry-level jobs such as those in retail, customer service, cooking and clerical occupations.
