Isiha's Story: Gaining Confidence and a New Career

Isiha heard about Hired while she was on pandemic-related leave from her job at a school district. As mom of three young children, she worried her position would eventually be eliminated altogether. Her employment counselor at Ramsey County knew about Isiha’s interest in the medical field and referred her to Hired’s Medical Call Center training.

“Doing everything virtual from home was a lot easier,” Isiha said of the training. “It was just so much safer during the pandemic.”

Through the six-week program, Isiha improved her typing and computer skills, learned how research companies before interviewing, and received multiple certifications in customer service, digital literacy, and mental health first aid.

“Hired’s training was huge. Not only did it help me sell myself, but it gave me more confidence. I felt like I could actually do this.”

Within two weeks of finishing the call center program, Isiha had three job offers on the table. At the beginning of October, she was hired full-time as a service representative at ActivStyle in Minneapolis.

“I’M SO HAPPY AND GRATEFUL. I LOVE MY NEW JOB. THE FEAR I HAD ABOUT LEARNING A NEW POSITION HAS TOTALLY GONE AWAY. THEY’RE INVESTED IN ME, AND THAT MAKES ME WANT TO INVEST MORE IN MY WORK.”

Isiha is already planning for her future at ActivStyle. “I’m soaking up as much experience as I can get – there’s opportunities to graduate to other departments. I’m so thankful to Hired for helping me get here.”
