Jasmine's Story: Success Through Unstoppable Motivation

Jasmine started working with Hired when she was 16-years-old after her school counselor connected her with Tara, one of Hired’s Youth Employment Counselors. Her dream was to work in the medical field; as a nurse or doctor. Jasmine loves working with people, but didn’t know where to start.

Shortly after meeting Tara, Jasmine began her classes at St. Paul College to complete the Certified Nursing Assistant exam. She struggled with the skills portion of the exam, but her strong determination and support from Hired pushed her through.

Tara recalls, “Jasmine is probably the most motivated 16-year-old I’ve met in my 20 years in social service.”

When the pandemic began, more challenges appeared, but Jasmine’s journey did not stop there. Once she passed all parts of her exam, a car was essential for her to start at her new job. Tara helped Jasmine receive her blue card and driving permit, even though it was difficult to schedule a written exam at the DMV during the pandemic.

Jasmine’s hard work paid off. Currently, she works at Oak Park Senior Living as a Certified Nursing Assistant. In a few years, she dreams of becoming a Registered Nurse.

“Tara is so motivating – she did everything she could to make sure I succeeded. From getting me scrubs, helping when my car broke down… She called me every single day to make sure I was doing well during classes,” Jasmine explained.
